Polymorph
Time: Action Target: Any in Throwing Distance(8u)
Test: Tuning Concentrating Save: Artifice
Effect: Attack
You must choose a form for your target when starting this Ability, you can choose any creature with the "Easy" or "Moderate" Creature Tag (such as a Sheep or Animated Furniture.) The target gains no Upgrades of the chosen form, but can still appear as creatures that would have Upgrades.
If the target Fails the Artifice Save, they gain two Fleeting stacks of Polyformed. If they Pass the Artifice Save, they instead gain one Fleeting stack of Polyformed (but do not transform.) A Willing creature Fails the Save automatically.
If the target is an object, your Score determines the effect instead. A Low Score has no effect. A Mixed Score inflicts one Fleeting stack of Polyformed (and it doesn't transform.) A High Score inflicts two Fleeting stacks of Polyformed. If the object is a non-magical object, you can transform it into:
- Another inanimate non-magical object that is within one Size of itself.
- A creature as described above. The creature will be an inanimate corpse.
If the object is a magical object, you can transform it into: - Another inanimate object that is within one Size of itself. It will retain its magical properties, unless doing so makes no sense, then its magic becomes dormant until it transforms back.
- A creature as described above. The GM will play the creature as the magical object inhabiting it.
Note: transformed living creatures will always be animate, regardless of their target form.
You can attempt to copy the exact look of a creature or object. If you get a High Score on the Tuning Test, the target becomes a spitting image of your goal. If you get a Mixed Score, the target is passable at a glance. If you get a Low Score, the target is noticeably different from your goal. (Note that the target may need to perform Acting Tests when attempting to embody a target beyond look alone.)
For Reference:
Upgrades:
- Chaotic.
- TODO: Create a roll table. Caster then chooses to roll on that instead.
- Lasting.
- You can choose to cast this Spell as a Concentration or Exhausting Ability. If you do, the target's stacks of Polyformed are Persistent. Reducing the target's Shield to 0 still ends the Condition. If you chose to add Concentration and lose Concentration, the target loses all stacks of Polyformed. If you cast this Spell using Concentration on a target you are already Concentrating on, you do not have to move up your level of Concentration.
- Potent.
- Targets can gain one Upgrade of the form you chose.
