You can spend Upgrades to instead gain new Spell Abilities.

Upgrades:

• Flexible(1).
  • At the start of each Episode, you can swap out one Spell Ability for another, provided that it has no Upgrades.
• Flexible(2). Requires Level 5.
  • At the start of each Episode, you can swap out one Spell Ability Upgrade for any other Spell Ability Upgrade on any of your Spell Abilities. (When swapping out one Spell Ability for another, it can now have up to one Upgrade on it that can be moved to the new Spell Ability. Doing so counts as your one Upgrade swap for the Episode.)
• Flexible(3). Requires Level 10.
  • When you would normally gain a Spell Ability, you can instead gain an Upgrade.
  • When swapping Spell Abilities or Spell Ability Upgrades, you can convert those Spell Abilities into Upgrades or vice-versa.
