You equip a shield (or something similar) to protect yourself. The shield is removed using a Free Action, by gaining the Unarmed condition, or by becoming Unconscious. Removing your shield ends this Ability.

Prepare the following Action while your shield is equipped:

Shields Up

Set your Shield to 2.

Fighter Upgrades:

Tower.
- As an added effect, you can use the Cover Defense Ability against ranged attacks (with your tower shield counting as the half cover required by that Ability.)
Heavy(1). Requires Level 5.
- The Shields Up Action can set your Shield to 3.
Heavy(2). Requires Level 10.
- The Shields Up Reaction can set your Shield to 4.
